De eerste recensies voor de nieuwe GoT: House of the Dragon-serie van HBO Max zijn zeer positief en sommigen zeggen zelfs “beter dan Game of Thrones.”
Met minder dan een maand te gaan voordat de serie in première gaat bij HBO Max, organiseerde Game of Thrones-prequel House of the Dragon een preview-screening met pilot-aflevering voor leden van de media. En de eerste recensies? Zeer positief!
Veel fans van de originele show hebben hun twijfels over de nieuwe prequel-serie na het tegenvallende einde van Game of Thrones, maar het lijkt er nu op dat HBO en George R.R. Martin erin geslaagd zijn om een serie te creëren die volgens sommigens zelfs beter is dan zijn voorganger.
Steven Weintraub, hoofdredacteur van Collider, zei: “Ik vond het laatste seizoen van Game of Thrones niet leuk. Helemaal niet. Maar ik geef toe dat de seriepremière van House of the Dragon echt goed is gedaan en ik zal blijven kijken”.
Indiewire schreef dat het “beter dan GoT & Breaking Bad” is, en Brandon Katz van The Wrap schreef: “De piloot van House of the Dragon legt op zeer efficiënte wijze de context uit met betrekking tot GoT, introduceert de kernpersonages en legt het centrale conflict van de serie uit. Het is een gemakkelijk te volgen première met levendige kleuren en gedetailleerde textuur. Absoluut een waardige opvolger tot nu toe.”
