De eerste volledig elektrische MINI Cooper SE heeft officieel zijn wereldpremière beleefd. BMW onthulde gisteren, tijdens een persconferentie in Rotterdam, de auto in vol ornaat.

Met de bijnaam MINI Electric, werkt de motor op een modelspecifieke lithium-ionbatterij die tussen 235 en 270 kilometer kan bereiken en tot 184 pk kan produceren. De acceleratie meet nul tot 60 km/u in 3,9 seconden en biedt een tijd van 7,3 seconden om de 100 km/u te bereiken. De maximale snelheid van 150 km/u wijst er trouwens op dat MINI de SE echt als stadsauto ziet.

De batterij van de MINI Cooper SE, die zich in de vloer van de auto bevindt, kan op verschillende plaatsen worden opgeladen, waaronder via huishoudelijke stopcontacten, wallboxes en openbare oplaadstations. Andere kenmerken zijn LED-koplampen, automatische airconditioning met twee zones, verwarming met warmtepomptechnologie, een elektrische parkeerrem en een Connected Navigation-systeem.

Volgens BMW-bestuurslid Pieter Nota hebben al 40.000 mensen belangstelling getoond voor de MINI Electric. MINI brengt de Cooper SE in maart 2020 op de markt. De elektrische hatchback is verkrijgbaar vanaf 34.900 euro. Het Private Lease-tarief bedraagt 499 euro per maand op basis van 48 maanden en 10.000 kilometer per jaar. Via de online reserveringstool van MINI kan een order geplaatst worden, wat wel een aanbetaling van 1.250 euro vereist.
